Sometimes, it may be quite hard for us to remain highly motivated and focused in pursuit of our life goals and aspirations. When you take care of your health and well-being (both psychological and physical), you will become stronger and more capable of accomplishing your objectives. For example, 70% of employees who prioritize self-care are characterized by a high level of productivity and job satisfaction (3).

To focus on your self-care, identify the actions that positively affect your well-being and perform them regularly. For instance, regular exercises can significantly improve your well-being and motivate you to work on your goals.

Developing a Proper Schedule

Scheduling certain tasks, actions, and processes is extremely useful for everyone who wants to develop a focused mindset. Nonetheless, it is quite challenging for some people to do that and remain focused and productive at the same time. The Pomodoro Technique, developed by Francesco Cirillo, will be especially helpful in this case.

According to this technique, one should spend 25-minute intervals focusing on work and then take breaks for five minutes (4).

Getting Rid of Distractions

Another factor to consider when trying to remain focused is distractions. On average, an employee gets interrupted every 11 minutes, losing productivity (5). Therefore, if you want to concentrate on something and achieve desired results, you should try to eliminate any possible distraction from this task.

Identify those actions or phenomena that distract you from concentrating on your goals and try to minimize them. For example, you can turn off all notifications on your phone to avoid getting distracted when working on something important.

If you wish to maintain focus while performing some tasks, it is worth mentioning building a supportive system around yourself. Such a group of people will make you feel comfortable while performing different actions.

For instance, you should think about identifying people who share your values, beliefs, and aspirations. Then, discuss your goals with them and invite them to assist you in reaching desired results.

Maintaining Positivity

Finally, it is important to mention remaining positive and focusing on your future successes. If you stay positive, you will be able to move forward successfully and overcome any obstacles standing in your way. Positive thinking helps to stay motivated and focused (6).

In order to stay positive, you can try journaling your emotions, meditating, and breathing deeply. All these techniques will positively affect your mood.
